ANDREA NAIRN
Andrea has a BA( Hons) Degree in Graphic Design and Illustration from Kingston University in the UK. Whilst working in London (UK) and Toronto her clients have included The Four Seasons Hotel group, Marks and Spencer, Safeway PLC and Second Cup. Andrea's work has been published in magazines such as Canadian House and Home, Toronto Life, Chatelaine and EnRoute .
In 2011, the desire to push her work in a new direction resulted in a return to art college to study textiles at Sheridan College in Oakville. Andrea was awarded the William and Mary Corcoran award as a student of excellence and ‘Best in Show’ at the Sheridan Faculty of Craft and Design Graduate exhibition in 2014. In June 2014 Andrea travelled to the USA to receive a First place award for textile print design from the International Textile Market Association.
Working from her home studio, Andrea promotes herself as an illustrator, surface pattern and textile designer.
Artist Statement
’Since childhood I have been excited by the process of sketching and mark making.The natural world and it's changing seasons has always held a particular fascination for me and offers a constant source of inspiration. Pattern and texture in landscape; the play of light on a frozen river edge, the dance of shadows cast by the silhouette of a winter tree. Nature offers up a restorative beauty and as an artist, I feel compelled to share and respond. It is my hope that the observer may be drawn into an experience that the natural world so often provides a quiet sense of wonder’
